In 1964, a group of compassionate individuals came together at the Bathurst Civic Centre to launch a Meals on Wheels Service, with the aim to provide hot, nutritious meals to elderly residents in need. On November 15th of that year, the first meals were delivered by two volunteers to eight grateful recipients. Today, Bathurst Meals on Wheels continues to serve the community, providing quality meals to older adults and those with disabilities, while promoting independence and social connection.
